Slidell Concrete Leveling — Two Kinds of Ground, Two Kinds of Settling

Most of Slidell sits on older, firmer ground than the south shore. The canal subdivisions on the lake don't. Here's how each one moves concrete.

New Orleans Concrete Leveling connects Slidell homeowners and businesses with independent local contractors for concrete leveling — lifting settled driveways, patios, pool decks, walks and garage floors back to grade without replacement. With mudjacking, typical Slidell prices follow the metro ranges: $600–$1,400 for a patio, $1,600–$3,600 for a 400-square-foot pool deck and $1,800–$4,100 for a full driveway, per HomeGuide's mudjacking cost data. Polyurethane foam runs $8–$25 per square foot, roughly double.

Slidell is a different story from New Orleans, and an honest leveling page should say so. The question in Slidell is which part of town the slab is in.

Common in Slidell

What sunken concrete looks like in Slidell

Driveway panels tipping after a dry spell

Clay subsoils shrink in drought and swell when wet, rocking panels and opening joints.

Canal-lot patios settling

Lakeside subdivisions built on drained, filled marsh settle much like the south shore.

Pool decks off the coping

Backfill around pools compacts for years, and heavy rain speeds it up.

Water under the slab

Flat lots and downspouts dumping onto slab edges wash out the base.

The local picture

Why concrete sinks in Slidell — the ground under it

Most of Slidell — Olde Towne, the neighborhoods along Gause Boulevard and the subdivisions north toward I-12 — sits on the North Shore's older Pleistocene terrace, not the young, organic delta soils south of the lake. That ground is firmer and doesn't subside the way Lakeview or Metairie does. Concrete still moves here, but for different reasons: clay-rich subsoils that shrink in dry spells and swell after heavy rain, rocking driveway panels and tilting patios; and water from downspouts and flat lots washing out the base.

The canal subdivisions on the lake are the exception. Eden Isles was built on land that was marsh, drained and filled over several years before the community was developed (Wikipedia), and nearby lakeside neighborhoods have a similar history. Concrete there behaves more like it does on the south shore — fill that keeps consolidating under driveways, patios and bulkhead-side slabs. Those areas were also devastated by Hurricane Katrina's surge in 2005, and many slabs date from the rebuild.

The practical difference: in north and central Slidell, a lift paired with good drainage and sealed joints tends to hold well, and mudjacking is often the value choice. On the lakeside fill, lighter polyurethane foam — and sometimes soil stabilization under it — is more often worth the premium.

How a Slidell leveling job runs

  1. 01

    Call or send the form

Call (504) 517-8336 now for a free, no-hassle quote, or send the form with the address and what dropped.

  2. 02

    Estimate within 24 hours

A local contractor measures the drop, checks for voids — common near Slidell downspouts and slab edges — and gives a written price.

  3. 03

    Lift and fill

Material is injected under the slab through small holes until it is back to grade. Most residential jobs take a few hours.

  4. 04

    Seal and drain

Holes patched and joints sealed so Slidell's heavy rain can't wash out the new support.

How this works

What you get before anyone drills

  • Prices on the page

Typical Slidell ranges are published below, with sources, before anyone visits.

  • Local ground, explained

The subsidence data and soil history that decide whether a lift lasts are laid out on this page.

  • Method-neutral

Mudjacking and foam are both explained, so the method fits the slab rather than the rig.

  • Checked contractors

We ask every contractor we work with to carry a license and insurance — and we recommend confirming both before work begins.

FAQ

Concrete leveling in Slidell: questions

How much does concrete leveling cost in Slidell?

Slidell mudjacking jobs follow the metro ranges from HomeGuide's cost data: about $600–$1,400 for a 150-square-foot patio, $1,600–$3,600 for a 400-square-foot pool deck and $1,800–$4,100 for a full driveway, with a $300–$700 contractor minimum. Polyurethane foam runs $8–$25 per square foot, roughly double.

Does Slidell have subsidence like New Orleans?

Most of Slidell sits on older, firmer North Shore terrace soil that doesn't subside like the south shore. The lakeside canal subdivisions, such as Eden Isles, were built on drained and filled marsh and settle more like south-shore neighborhoods.

Why do my driveway joints open up in summer?

Clay-rich subsoils shrink as they dry and swell when wet. That seasonal movement rocks panels, opens joints and tips slabs. Sealing joints and managing water at the slab edges reduces it.

Is mudjacking a good choice in Slidell?

On firm North Shore ground with a single void, mudjacking ($4–$9 per sq ft) is often the value choice. On lakeside fill, lighter foam ($8–$25 per sq ft) adds less weight to soil that is still consolidating.

Can a Katrina-rebuild slab in Eden Isles be leveled?

Usually. If the slab is intact and only the support below has settled, it can be lifted. On filled marsh, soil stabilization under the lift may be recommended so it holds.
